Dr. V. A. Joseph is a experienced banking professional with over 40 years of experience. He holds degrees in Law, Commerce, and Personnel Management, is a CAIIB, and earned a Ph.D. in Business Economics from Savitribai Phule Pune University. He began his career with Syndicate Bank in 1972, where he served in senior leadership roles for 31 years.

In 2003, he joined South Indian Bank and went on to serve as Chairman & CEO, and later as Managing Director & CEO until 2014.

During his tenure, the bank received several prestigious recognitions, including the “Best Bank – Asset Quality and Priority Sector Lending Award” from Dunn & Bradstreet, the Businessworld Best Bank Award (2010), and the Banking Technology Excellence Award from the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology. He was also recognized among the Top 100 CEOs in India by Business Today in 2013.

Post-retirement, he has continued to contribute to the financial and corporate sectors as an Independent Director in reputed institutions such as ESAF Small Finance Bank and Muthoot Homefin (India) Limited, and currently serves as an Independent Director at Agappe Diagnostics Limited.
